Psalm 73:26
The struggle is real!! We all have them in our life. Lately, I have been struggling with my eating habits. This time of year, with all the pies and turkey followed by Christmas cookies and gingerbread houses, doesn’t help. I feel off balance and I crave sweets!!! Have you felt off balance during your struggles? It’s like a reflex, I grab for something sweet and it vanishes before I realize I’ve eaten it. Is it a craving? A habit? The Devil? Or am I having a spiritual void that needs to be filled? Obviously, sweets will not fill a spiritual void. Grab a sheet of paper and list some ways you have felt off balance lately. What did you turn to or reach for to try and keep your balance?
Hebrew 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
God is my strength and my portion. If we can learn to turn toward God when this reflex happens then we will start to see change!!! I know, easier said than done but God uses our struggles and weaknesses so we can continue to depend on Him. It’s time to flip that switch in our minds from, “It’s impossible!” to “anything is possible with God”. It will take discipline and focus but like it says in Hebrews, it will “produce a harvest of righteousness and peace”. Who wouldn’t want that!? List 3 ways you can change your focus back to God. Now, grab a dry erase marker and write them on your bathroom mirror. Lets keep that focus these next few weeks! We will need that reminder.
Philippians 4:19
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 105:4
Look to the Lord and His strength;
seek His face always.
