Romans 15:13 says “May the God of hope full you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
“I’m not saying that I don’t trust you. I’m just saying I don’t believe you.” Yep, trust issues. I have been doing a devotional this week called ‘Perfect Trust’, so I know I’m not the only one with these issues! Yay me, I’m ‘normal’.
This devotion states all the beautiful and obvious reasons you can put your full, 100% trust in Christ. It reminds me that, “You can trust God fully because God is THE truth and absolutely righteous, He will not change” and “God will never turn His back on you, so you can trust Him with your life because He will always be perfectly faithful to you.” Great reminders, thank you for that, but I already know why I can and need to trust Him…Because I’m sooo smart…obviously.
But I want to know how! How do I give Him my full 100% trust? I try, but my flesh takes over when things start to get uncomfortable and I put trust back in myself…where I feel ‘safe’. Really?! I want to put my trust in myself after years and years of making, not so smart, mistakes?! Good idea [eye roll]…

After days of rummaging in sorrow and questions when speaking to the Lord, I finally decided I need to shut up for 25 seconds, just sit and devote my attention to Him. When this happened, I heard His still small voice. [Listen and you will hear. Mind blowing…I know.] He gave me this question: What makes you put your trust in others in the first place? [Shoulder shrug] I don’t know God…because I build a relationship with them? Exactly! [Yes, I’m mind blown again.]
We put everything into earthly relationships, the ones we know are going to let us down simply because they are human. Put everything you have into your relationship with Christ, the one who can’t and won’t let you down. Preaching to the choir here! Cultivate your relationship by getting to know Christ on an intimate level. Spend time in the quiet with Him, dive into His word, know Him deeply and you will know nothing more than to trust Him completely.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No on comes to the Father except through me.
